The interior of the pouch is lined with a semi-grippy material that will hold mags in place, and a simple flap with a pull tab covers the top of the magazine, similar to bungees on an open-top mag pouch design. When you need to reload, simply rip the pull tab away, and your mag will be able to be easily removed. If you don't want to use the top, it's easily stowable using the hook and loop field on the front of the magazine.
